Remodeling Your Home Can Boost Its Value

While my wife and I loved our home at first, after a few years, we started craving a change in scenery. We thought about remodeling it to see if that would give us the change we were looking for, but we worried that if we were still bored of our home after the remodeling project, we would have just "wasted" our money before putting it on the market. That mentality changed when we learned that some home remodeling projects can boost the value of your home greatly and even help it sell more quickly after it is put onto the market! We soon had our kitchen upgraded and a few other changes to our home and found out that it really was the change we were craving. I learned a lot about home renovations during the remodeling process, so I decided to create a blog to share my tips on!

4 Tips To Help Change Your Kitchen Design With New Counters And Cabinets

If you want to change the look of your kitchen, there are many different options to consider for renovations. Instead of remodeling your entire home, changing the cabinet layout and adding new counter tops is a great way to change the appearance of your kitchen. There are also options for restoring cabinets by having the refinished and adding new counter tops. Here are some tips to change the design of your kitchen with new counters and cabinets:

1. Solid Surface Counter Tops to Change Your Kitchen

In older home's, kitchen counter tops are often made of particle-board products that are covered with a veneer laminate. The problem with these old materials is that the wood inside is easily damaged by water and the surfaces are prone to damage that cannot be repaired. To solve this problem in your home, have solid surface counter tops installed. Today, you have the choice of real stone like granite, synthetic materials like epoxy, and light-weight concrete counters.

2. Refinishing and Refacing Cabinets to Change Kitchen Design

To give you kitchen a new look, you will want to change the cabinets. What if you like the way the cabinet layout is designed but want to change their look? Today, you have options like cabinet refacing, which will completely change the look of the cabinets without changing the structure or layout. If you have wood cabinets, you may also want to consider options for refinishing them, such as sanding and new stain or painting them.

3. Adding Kitchen Island, Bar or Extra Counter Space to the Kitchen

Food preparation space is important in the kitchen, and there never seems to be enough counters. You may also want to have space for dining in the kitchen area if you have a busy family. Consider adding to your kitchen with an island or bar area. Bar space will give you an area to have meals with your family and an island will give your kitchen more prep-space. In addition, there are also solutions for islands with casters that can be moved out of the way or where you need them, which is great for smaller kitchen designs.

4. Changing the Cabinet Layout in The Kitchen for A New Look

If you have a smaller kitchen or cabinets that seem to be out of place, you may want to consider completely changing the layout of the cabinets. Work with the cabinet installers to create a design that works for your kitchen. This is also a great opportunity to add storage features, islands and bar space to your kitchen.
