Remodeling Your Home Can Boost Its Value

While my wife and I loved our home at first, after a few years, we started craving a change in scenery. We thought about remodeling it to see if that would give us the change we were looking for, but we worried that if we were still bored of our home after the remodeling project, we would have just "wasted" our money before putting it on the market. That mentality changed when we learned that some home remodeling projects can boost the value of your home greatly and even help it sell more quickly after it is put onto the market! We soon had our kitchen upgraded and a few other changes to our home and found out that it really was the change we were craving. I learned a lot about home renovations during the remodeling process, so I decided to create a blog to share my tips on!

Common Problems That A Garage Door Might Have

A garage door can be a pain to deal with when it does not operate as it should. Knowing what is causing the problem can make getting a repair a faster process, and you might even be able to perform some of the repairs on your own. You will learn about some of the common issues that you might experience with a garage door in the article below.

The Garage Door Opener Must Be Reset

If you are suddenly unable to use the opener to lift up the garage door, it might be a simple problem that you can fix. It is possible that you need to reset the opener so it can interact with the motor. The garage door motor might not be working because the photo eyes (sensors) detected something under the door. There are three steps for resetting a garage door opener without having to call a professional, as listed below:

  1. Unplug your garage door
  2. Leave the garage door unplugged for a minute
  3. Plug the garage door back up

The Garage Door Doesn't Close All the Way

Before making an appointment for a technician to inspect your garage door to figure out why it doesn't close all the way, there are a few things you should check. Take a good look at the tracks to make sure there is nothing on them that is preventing the door from moving past a certain point. For instance, there might be a stick stuck in one of the tracks or an accumulation of dirt. Remove any objects that you might see and wet a cloth with warm water and detergent to clean the tracks off. You should also make sure the rollers on the door are sitting right in the tracks, as they can have a hard time moving it the tracks are not properly aligned.

The Garage Door Goes Down Too Fast

One thing that can make a garage door close too fast are loose roller hinges. It is possible that the rollers are in need of being tightened up or replaced. You can take a look at the roller hinges to see if you can tighten up the screws on your own. Loose springs can also make a garage door close fast, but it is a repair that should be handled by a technician. Call a technician about your garage door if you come across any problems that you can't fix on your own!
